Pawel Poprawa, MSc Eng. studied geosciences and petroleum geology at Jagiellonian University Cracow, AGH Technical University Cracow and University Collage Dublin, completing his MSc Thesis on the organic geochemistry of hydrocarbon source rocks in 1994. Since 1995 he has worked at the Polish Geological Institute in Warsaw and since 2003 has been the Head of the Petroleum Prospection Division at the Polish Geological Institute. His main subjects of professional interest are sedimentary basin analysis, in particular thermal and burial history reconstructions; the tectonic evolution of sedimentary basins; and sediment provenance area studies. For the last four years he has been studying mainly the shale gas potential of Poland and its neighboring countries.

Malgorzata Szymanska is Head of the Gas Unit in the Oil & Gas Department at the Polish Ministry of Economy. She graduated from the School of Management at Warsaw University, after which she studied at the National School of Public Administration and completed an internship at Ecole National d'Administration, France. Her previous experience includes working at POGC (Polish Oil And Gas Company) and EuRoPol GAZ s.a., the owner of the Polish part of the Jamal Gas Pipeline System.

Roland Vially is a senior geologist in the structural department at IFP. He is the manager of a multi-disciplinary project which includes seismic and well interpretation, geochemical analysis and basin-modelling, in order to reassess the hydrocarbon potential (conventional and unconventional) of the French sedimentary basins. He is involved as a regional geologist in the French EXTRAPLAC Program to extend the continental shelf beyond the 200 nautical miles according to the United Nation Law of the Sea.

Thomas (Tom) L. Gardner currently manages Southwestern Energy’s (SWN) New Ventures Engineering and Business Development activities. Prior to joining SWN, Tom was a Research Director and equity analyst at the energy niche investment bank Simmons & Company International, an International Vice President at the petroleum consulting firm Ryder Scott Company LP and held various positions for Exxon and Arco Alaska. He earned a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and an M.B.A. from the Mays School of Business. He is a registered professional engineer and a registered equity analyst. Tom has authored or co-authored several works that have appeared in such publications as Oil and Gas Investor and Journal of Petroleum Technology. Tom resides in The Woodlands, Texas with his wife of 22 years and four children.

John Buggenhagen PhD, Vice President of Exploration, San Leon Energy is an exploration geophysicist with 15 years’ experience developing international exploration opportunities with a strong focus on North America and Europe. Most recently Dr. Buggenhagen worked as Vice-President Exploration – Europe with Gold Point Energy and was instrumental in building Gold Point's enviable position in Poland. Prior to that, he was the Exploration Manager in Europe for Denver-based Aspect Energy, LLC and a major contributor to the highly successful exploration of their subsidiary Hungarian Horizon Energy. He also worked as an exploration geophysicist for ConocoPhillips Alaska (formerly ARCO Alaska) on numerous exploration projects across the North Slope of Alaska. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in geophysics from the University of Wyoming, and his B.S. degree in geophysics from the University of Arizona.

Mr. Timothy L. Benton is Vice President - Geosciences of GMX Resources Inc. Mr. Benton has been responsible for engineering and geological characterization work of the company's assets since 2005. Prior to coming to GMXR he worked in reservoir, completion and production positions with Gulf Oil Corporation, Texas Pacific Oil Company, Long, Atteberry & Associates and as an independent consultant. Mr. Benton is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Oklahoma. He is a Member of the Society of Petrophysicists & Well Log Analysts and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. As a consultant, Mr. Benton provided engineering and geological studies for many U.S. based oil and gas producers. This work included expert witness testimony, prospect evaluations, acquisitions/divestitures, and property economics and generalized field engineering/geological studies. Mr. Benton has developed software for gas reservoir simulation, petrophysics, fracture stimulation design, geological mapping, pressure transient analysis, pressure maintenance, economics, and risk analysis. He is a Tau Beta Pi and Pi Epsilon Tau Outstanding Senior graduate from the University of Oklahoma earning a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering and completed post graduate work in fracture stimulation design, pressure transient analysis, fluid flow through porous media and advanced engineering mathematics.

From 1995 to 2002, Mr. Smith served as Oklahoma’s secretary of energy in the cabinet of former Gov. Frank Keating. From 2002 to 2004 Carl Michael Smith served as assistant secretary of fossil energy for the U.S. Department of Energy. Mr. Smith served as the primary policy advisor to Secretary Spencer Abraham on federal coal, petroleum, and natural gas programs, including extensive research and development efforts. He practiced energy law and earned Bachelor of Arts and law degrees from the University of Oklahoma.

Since Frank van Bergen joined TNO in 1998 he has focused on projects related to coalbed methane, CO2 storage and petroleum systems. He was one of the main drivers behind a field demonstration project of CO2 storage in coal in Poland. Currently, he is leading an evaluation project on ECBM in China. Parallel to this, he has been working on conventional and unconventional petroleum systems, including shale gas evaluations in the Netherlands.

Tony Atherton has recently been appointed Country Manager for Talisman Energy Polska where he is responsible for setting up Talisman’s unconventional gas operations based in Warsaw. He was previously General Manager of Talisman Energy Qatar, based in Doha where he was also responsible for new business development in the North Africa and Middle East region. Prior to this he was Exploration Manager and Head of Geoscience with Talisman Energy UK based in Aberdeen. During this period Mr. Atherton played a major role in a number of corporate and asset acquisitions and several significant exploration discoveries and field developments. He has also been a regular participant in various Government-Industry workgroups and forums. He was educated at London University where he attained a BSc and MSc in Geology. Mr. Atherton has 30 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and production and has worked for a number of major international oil companies including Amoco and Occidental.

Marion Kaisinger, MMag., has a University Master in Law from University of Salzburg and Exeter, UK, followed by professional experience in the court and administrative bodies and other public institutions. Since 2004 she has worked for OMV’s Upstream Division as an in-house Legal Advisor in Vienna, first on exploration and production of oil and gas in the Vienna basin, and since 2007 also for OMV’s international operations. Besides her experience in international and Austrian oil & gas (mining) law and contracts, she is a senior expert in permitting and environmental law of the European Union and Austria, including water protection, waste management and disposal, environmental impact assessment (EIA), protected areas, surface usage and constraints, etc. In this capacity she has gained expertise in permitting of oil and gas operations and production enhancement initiatives as well as unconventional projects.

Dr. Attila Aydemir is the coordinator for unconventional resources in TPAO, Exploration Department. He received his MSc and PhD degrees in geophysics from the Ankara University and has wide experience of hydrocarbon exploration in areas with complex geology, particularly in SE Anatolia and the Salt Lake Basin. He has been conducting unconventional hydrocarbon exploration in TPAO for three years. His professional experience includes employment by the Middle East Technical University and Thrace Basin Natural Gas Corporation prior to joining TPAO. He has published many scientific articles on different basins in Turkey. He is an associate editor of the Turkish Association of Petroleum Geologists Bulletin. He is also a member of the UCTEA-Chamber of Geophysical Engineers.

Brian W. Horn has worked in oil and gas exploration for the past 25 years. He received his MSc from the University of Colorado in Boulder and a PhD in Geology (minor petroleum engineering) from the Colorado School of Mines. For the past 18 years Brian has worked in several onshore tight gas sandstone plays in US Rocky Mountain Basins and in Oman for BP and Maersk Oil. He has conducted regional petroleum scoping and play fairway analysis for exploration in both North America and conjugate margins. Brian recently joined ION Geophysical as the Chief Geologist and Director of Geology of the Integrated Seismic Solutions (ISS) business unit.

Michael Schuetz is Policy Officer for Indigenous Fossil Fuels in the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission. He studied public administration and policy at the Universities of Konstanz and Potsdam in Germany and graduated with an MSc in Regulation (Utilities Regulation) from the London School of Economics. Prior to his appointment as Policy Officer for the European Commission he worked in the Directorate-General for Energy of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in the Division for Energy Policy and for International Energy Policy, and finally as Deputy Head of the Division for Energy Efficiency.

Deborah Provias is the Manager of Development Design for the Shale Gas - E&D Team within Nexen Canada. The Design team has drillling, completions, production, reservoir engineering, petrophysics, geomechanics, geology and geophysics functional expertise and is charged with understanding shale gas reservoir systems to optimise recovery and development cost efficiency. Deborah holds a B.A.Sc. degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Toronto and is a registered professional engineer. Deborah began her career with a small Canadian exploration company in 1980 and has since worked for Delhi Petroleum in Australia and Chevron in both the UK and Canada. She has been working Canadian unconventional shale gas since taking her position with Nexen in 2006.

Brian A. Matusek was appointed Vice President of Business Development for CAMSHALE Services of Cameron in August 2009, having served as Vice President of Strategic Planning for Compression Systems division since February 2009. Prior to joining Cameron, Mr. Matusek was Senior Vice President - Western Hemisphere of Hanover (predecessor to Exterran) in July 2006, having served as Senior Vice President, U.S. and Global Services since May 2005. He joined Hanover in August 2003 and had previously served as Vice President of Marketing, Product Development & Domestic Sales and Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Development. Prior to joining Hanover, Mr. Matusek served in various senior managerial roles with Schlumberger from 1998 through 2003, including leadership roles in Schlumberger’s compression systems and artificial lift product lines. Before joining Schlumberger as part of its purchase of Camco International, Inc., he served as Vice President, International Business of Camco. Prior to Camco’s 1997 purchase of Production Operators, Inc. (POI), he was employed by POI for over 16 years in various management positions, including Vice President, International Operations. Mr. Matusek also serves as an officer and director of certain other Hanover majority-owned subsidiaries.

Randy LaFollette is the Manager, Shale Gas Technology, for BJ Services and works from the corporate Technology and Operations Support Center in Tomball, Texas. Mr. LaFollette holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Science from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He has 32 years of experience in the oil industry; including field, region, and research level positions, and has worked for The Western Company of North America, Reservoirs, Incorporated, and BJ Services. He is active in SPE, aiding with conference organization and presenting on various reservoir and completion / stimulation topics. He has also presented on shale topics at AAPG, SPWLA, and other industry group meetings. He is a co-author of a recently published industry book, “Modern Fracturing, Enhancing Natural Gas Production.” Current job responsibilities include management and coordination of laboratory and applied support projects. Mr. LaFollette is also responsible for structuring and implementing geospatial studies of stimulation effectiveness linking reservoir quality and treatments performed to production results. Providing stimulation and remedial treatment recommendations, training personnel, and consulting with operators and BJ field / region personnel on technical support matters are also part of his role.

Joining Global Geophysical in January 2010, Mr. Usher brings with him over two decades of experience as an accomplished leader in the fields of seismic data processing, imaging and data analysis. Having spent more than 20 years working internationally, he is well poised to further expand our Global presence.
Mr. Usher began his career in the seismic industry at Western Geophysical in field operations, and quickly progressed through the ranks to become the Vice President of Worldwide Technology and Vice President of Eastern Hemisphere Data Processing. In 2000, Mr. Usher moved to Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) as President of its global data processing division, overseeing operations and software development worldwide. From 2004 – 2005, he was Senior Vice President of Services worldwide for Paradigm. Most recently, Mr. Usher served as Senior Director at Landmark Software and Services, a division of Halliburton, from October 2005 – January 2010. In this position, he was responsible for all software development, customer support and services.
Mr. Usher is a graduate of Yale University with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Geophysics. Mr. Usher is a director of Sensilaser Technologies Inc. and is a member of both the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE).

Mr. Rauball has worked for the Company in various functions since 1994. Mr. Rauball attended Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany from 1967 through 1971. During the period 1976-1994, his geological consulting activities were primarily for companies conducting exploration for gold and base metal ore bodies in Canada, the United States and South America. Wolfgang Rauball has arranged significant financing for business enterprises, primarily public companies engaged in the resource industry.

Yuriy V. Koltun, PhD. (Geology), Chief Geologist, Eastern Europe, EuroGas, Inc. is a widely published, internationally recognized expert on Ukrainian geology, with particular emphasis on the processes of generation and accumulation of hydrocarbons, and the identification of petroleum systems. Dr. Koltun has studied and worked on the development of hydrocarbons in both the Lviv-Volyn Coal Basin (Western Ukraine) and the Carpathians. His geochemical investigations of organic-rich strata combined with paleooceanological, lithological and tectonic research has furthered the geological knowledge base of the evolution of the Carpathian region (including Polish, Ukrainian and Romanian Carpathians. Dr. Koltun’s advanced organic geochemical investigations of black shale formations and a long-term experience facilitates the assessment of EuroGas’ shale gas prospects.

Fred Poland

Fred Poland is the senior product manager for GeoGraphix geological product lines. He has been with GeoGraphix for over 15 years as a technical support specialist, professional services manager, trainer/consultant, and most recently as the geological product manager. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in geology, an MBA, and a computer information science degree. Mr. Poland has worked for major and independent oil and gas operating companies as an exploration geologist, for environmental engineering companies as an environmental geologist and IT manager, and as a program manager for an internet map data company. In his current capacity as a senior GeoGraphix product manager, he is focusing the development efforts to support unconventional resource plays including resource evaluation and analysis, horizontal well planning, correlation and geosteering, and completion operations.
